For Everyone
« on: November 05, 2017, 07:12:21 PM »
Tuesday is important.

Whether or not your love or hate Donald Trump, love him, believe in Russian collusion, conspiracies, crooked politicians, the actions of Congress, or love where the federal government is at right now, remember this:

ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL

The actions of our state leadership are the aspect of government that direct your day-to-day lives here in Virginia. Tuesday's election for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and our delegates will effects you, your family, and your community much more than the President.

I hope you vote for Ralph Northam for many reasons. Even if you don't, just remember that all politics is local.

Please go vote. Stand up and be heard Martinsville and Henry County!

Just remember a vote for Northam is a vote for another 4 years of the failed policies of current Governor Terry McAwful.

On Tuesday vote the GOP ticket of Gillespie, Vogel and Adams to help make the Virginia economy business friendly and to return conservative values to the state.

The moral of this post is to remind everyone: GO VOTE! Bring those ideas and to the Governor's race topic.

All politics is local. This is the election that makes the difference in your state, your community, and all the way down to your street.

If you feel disenfranchised with the 2 major parties and the negative campaigning, I hope you consider Cliff Hyra Tuesday.

He is the only candidate who is against the MVP and ACP pipelines in defense of our property rights against large corporations.

He is the only candidate that supports legalizing cannabis in VA to end the drug war, curb the opioid epidemic, lower taxes, and jump start our economy.

He is the only fiscal conservative on the ballot. The other 2 candidate propose a spending increase of at least $2 B. His tax cut of up to $1,500 per person would be the largest.

The Martinsville Bulletin published a nice Q&A with him today: http://www.martinsvillebulletin.com/news/election-virginia-governor-q-a/article_5c6e5bf2-c196-11e7-970e-cbe0b389fb05.html

If you support a reduction in the Virginia tax rate, vote for Ed Gillespie tomorrow for Governor, jill Vogel for Lt. Governor and John Adams for Attorney General.

Lower taxes means more new jobs, less people on welfare, more people paying taxes and better prosperity for all Virginians.

Under Governor McAuliffe and LG Ralph Northam we have seen new industry, new grant opportunities, and a boom in the Virginia economy. He has his name on implementing major economic development initiatives designed to strengthen the Commonwealth’s pro-business climate, ensure efficient investment in world-class infrastructure

Ralph Northam is a veteran. He is a doctor. And he a Virginia born, VMI graduate. He is principled, and he is the type of leader for Virginians from all areas of our great Commonwealth. Vote Ralph Northam for Governor. A real leader with results!

Northam voted against a bill that would ban sanctuary cities in Virginia.

Virginia ranks 39th out of 50 states in economic growth with a growth rate of 0.68% under Governor Terry McAwful.

Ed Gillespie has a 20 point plan to bring economic growth back to Virginia including reducing the state income tax to help Virginia families bring home more pay. Gillespie is also endorsed by 65 Virginia Sheriffs and major newspapers across the Commonwealth, including papers in Roanoke, Richmond and Fredericksburg.

Gov. McAuliffe was born in Syracuse, NY -  so you can't use that as a reason to vote for Northam since you don't support that yourself. I don't trust either one.

he still wants to increase spending state spending by $2B(over 4%) and his tax cut is based on forecasted future growth. it isn't promised or set in stone and is really a best case scenario.

1. We don't have sanctuary cities in Virginia. Thats a fact. That bill was a stunt bill with no substance just for politics. And Ed agreed with that at the debate!

2. Economic growth has continued over the last few years; small business growth and grant opportunities the big highs. Almost every month there is a big event with a new factory or new business community to continue to spur economic growth. Chesterfield County, Petersburg, Norfolk, Roanoke, Galax, Danville, Prince William County, and Charlottesville last month; just to name a few.

3. Virginia has the 3rd LOWEST crime rate of all 50 states. And that is fact.

These are the facts. Keep with the callow nicknames like you do, such actions resemble a cartoon clown that was the masot of McDonalds. (The one thats bears a very similary first name haha!)

And yeah, not all good Governors are born Virginians but I tend to lean towards the ones that do! Especially fellow rural Virginians like Ralph.

It's a good bet that those of us who have posted about the election on this forum have voted. Win or lose we can take solace in the fact that we fulfilled our civic responsibility. Those who do not vote fail the most basic test of citizenship. Democracies can make serious mistakes--just read Thucydides' Peloponnesian War to appreciate the horrible mistakes made by the first democratic government in Athens--but we have the capacity to self-correct. When people do not vote, they skew election results in unrepresentative ways. Only full participation by eligible voters can lead to a completely legitimate outcome.

Thank you Steven and Common Sense. I read last night somewhere that 380,000 more Virginians voted in this election than in the last gubernatorial contest. If that is accurate--I was half asleep when I read it--you have to wonder if they will continue to vote or lose interest. There are ways we could make voting easier, and we could do that if people cared enough to vote for politicians who support that change. People have to make choices between bad options all the time. If a really high percentage of voters came to the polls consistently, it is much less likely that we would have to make that choice between political candidates.

Anyway, this one is over and we can get ready for 2018.  ::)
