Why are democrats tying amnesty for all illegals in this country into a bill that funds the government?

2nd Request... Where are you getting the idea the D's are wanting amnesty for all undocumented aliens?

The men and women of the U.S. military will not be paid because of Schumer and the Democrats. Americans will remember this come November elections.

Also, while I do hate to admit this because I want this senator voted out this year, Claire McCaskill(D-MO) did attempt to pass a bill guaranteeing military pay and death benefits during the govít shutdown. Mitch McConnell blocked it.

Tell me again how this is 100% the D's fault and (they don't care about the military) only the R's care about the military

Day 2 of the Chuck U Schumer federal government shutdown is underway. Democrats still refuse to ok the spending bill the House passed whiuch includes an extention for the CHIP program.

It is amnesty for all illegals in this country or bust for Schumer and the Democrats. Never thought I would see the day when an American political party would throw Americans under the bus for illegals for hey we are talking about today's democrat party.

Chilf=dren will not be getting their free daily meals at schools because the federal program is shutdown.

Seniors will not have money for their groceries and medicine. Some will die.

The men and women of the U.S. military will not be paid because of Schumer and the Democrats. Americans will remember this come November elections.

If Republicans wanted CHIP, they could have passed it last year.

I have not seen anything that says democrats want amnesty for all undocumented aliens. where's your source?

military will be paid through Feb 1.

The more i dig into this, the more it looks like republicans are to blame.

House (R) Thomas Massie offers some insight. Senator Rand Paul shares the same thoughts as well.
Letís be clear. This shutdown crisis is completely avoidable. Our Republican leadership should have offered 12 separate appropriation bills, as the 1974 Budget Control Act prescribes.

This year, House leadership claims to have passed 12 appropriation bills. But it was one vote to fund all of government, one vote that simultaneously passed all 12 bills at once. Folks, this is called an Omnibus, and the all-or-nothing process of funding government is what allows one faction to hold the entire government funding hostage unless they get what they want.

If instead, we pass one bill to fund the judicial branch, one bill to fund the military, one bill to fund the congressional branch, etc., then no group of legislators can hold all of the discretionary spending hostage. The less popular aspects of government might not get a majority vote without some wrangling, but most appropriation bills would easily get a bipartisan majority, especially if members had a say in the final bills.

Why do the leaders of both parties insist on only passing one bill to fund all of government? Because it gives them so much control over the process, and leaves rank and file members with only two options at the end: take it or leave it. Well, the leaders have failed the people and here we are. Itís my hope that the people will insist that Congress go back to a rational budget process, that gives their representatives a voice in the process.

Thank you Cadet Bone Spurs

Superman has a valid point - the democrats have chosen the illegal aliens over the people who voted for them.

not so fast. Who knows how many illegals actually end up voting for Democrats. Dems are crafty, We know that the dead have voted for Democrats in the past so it is not totally beyond comprehension that Democrats are busing illegals to the polls in "Blue" states.

Meantime, the Chuck U. Schumer federal government shutdown over illegals continues.

Both parties are to blame. Trump is demanding wasteful spending for a useless wall. I'd like to know where he is getting his "facts" for most dangerous country in the world and what metric he is using. He is just spewing BS propaganda from what I can tell.

D's were allocating money to the wall and the R's were going to extend DACA and then 1600 Pennsylvania ave did a 180 on DACA.

It's becoming more clear to me that Trump is a puppet and when he gets too far out of the master's range, they pull the strings.

just did 1 at hollywood. once you get to the door, you check in on your phone and it loads the money to your card. pretty simple and straight forward. we were actually a little late so the movie we wanted to see had already started. it wasn't available as a listed showtime. if you want to go in a smidge late to a movie, just click another movie with a similar showtime. worked like a charm.

So does Solon on his "shutdown" thread. Both sides vote politics over people. It's disgusting at the core. These people get elected, so people get what they get.

I agree with their decision. Call people out with sources if they post fake news. People should feel ashamed if they spread false information. It's like fake gossip.

I called someone out on sharing this post below. Turns out it's from a fake twitter account. You would not believe the backlash the person got for posting it after people found out it wasn't real.

Your FB community needs to police itself in a respectful way to condition people to read and analyze something before automatically hitting a share button because it's something you enjoy reading even if it isn't true.

Another problem i have with FB is confirmation bias. You see posts mainly from people you enjoy interacting with and are likely closer friends with closer interests. It makes people more narrow-minded by seeing the same ideas repeated over and over again. When they are out in a public setting and meet new people with different ideas, the can't listen to each other because they are "right" and the other person is "wrong".

Not that i think obama was spectacular, but his streak was more impressive than trump so far.

I'm glad the "democrats" are obstructing funding for our bloated defense spending and that stupid wall. trump is so focused on cutting taxes that he is forgetting to be fiscally responsible and cut spending to match. Instead he increases defense and homeland security spending by $100 B

Yep. Thanks for noticing! "Dan the Man" was using the mic used to mic the callers and the caller audio was coming off the back end of Jessie's mic. She's supposed to cover the caller with her mic, but she forgot and I didn't remind her. Producer's fault. The new studio is being wired so the call-in line will have it's own dedicated pot on the mixer like it used to be.

makes sense. good to know!

Bill I was listening to the coffee break on 1450 on 1/16 and it was very hard to hear the callers calling in. The host and guest seemed to be micd very well, but the callers were really low. Just an FYI

The Harvest Foundation has put up $3.1 million dollars to pay for textbooks, fees, and tuition for students to get an associateís degree at Patrick Henry Community College. 131 applications have been received, but Vice President Greg Hodges told the Martinsville City School Board that only 15 of them are from Martinsville. No thoughts were offered as to why so few have taken advantage of the opportunity.

Is this saying only 15 are from MHS or 15 are from Martinsville/Henry County area?
