General Discussion / "Free College Education and Only 15 Apply"
« on: January 16, 2018, 04:36:27 AM »
Quote
The Harvest Foundation has put up $3.1 million dollars to pay for textbooks, fees, and tuition for students to get an associate’s degree at Patrick Henry Community College. 131 applications have been received, but Vice President Greg Hodges told the Martinsville City School Board that only 15 of them are from Martinsville. No thoughts were offered as to why so few have taken advantage of the opportunity.

Is this saying only 15 are from MHS or 15 are from Martinsville/Henry County area?

General Discussion / Texas steak house closed
« on: July 17, 2017, 09:51:56 PM »
Sign posted today says this unit is closed and to come visit in Danville. The lady from Patrick county who embezzled some money must have left them in a bad spot financially and managerially.

I won't miss it.  Food and service was always sub par when I went. Plenty of good locally owned restaurants to support.

The Roanoke Times announced they are eliminating their printing operations and consolidating the physical printing of their newspaper with BH Media Group corporate partner Lynchburg News and Advance at its printing facility.

No specific word on how this will effect the Martinsville Bulletin. Its printing operations were moved to Roanoke in July 2015.

General Discussion / Tune in app
« on: May 22, 2017, 08:14:33 AM »
The tune in app works fine until the coffee break comes on. The music for the show starts and then it's no other audio the entire time. It's like it's not getting a feed for the host's Mic.
